The fifth Cox Green Walk & Talk Group is set for this coming Saturday – with special guests promised at the event.
This pilot group sees people come to Cox Green Community Centre for a 30-minute walk around Cox Green, then return to talk to each other about their wellbeing for 30–60 minutes.
On Saturday, one of the special guests will be Wild Chai, a tea company with a Burnham base that sells different teas and will be offering some freebies.
The pilots, which began at the beginning of April, are being run by Sunil Sharma, a Maidenhead Conservative. He said going forward, this format of special guests will likely be the focus.
Someone will share their story for the first 10 minutes – be that about the loss of a job, or a bereavement for example, and how they have coped with it.
Then the group will be able to respond, sharing their knowledge too.
"On average, about 15 people attend the meetings," said Sunil.
“People have said really positive things. We have regulars who’ve come to every single one,” he said. “It’s a great group – the challenge is to try to attract more new people.”
