Cox Green Community Centre was transformed into a miniature world when a model railway exhibition stopped off last weekend (January 6).
Around 600 people, young and old, turned out to see a range of international dioramas from Marlow, Maidenhead and District Model Railway Club (MMDMRC).
The day is one of two yearly events put on by the club, with another show scheduled for Knowl Hill this Summer.
MMDMRC chairman, Mark Pollard said:
“It was good and really busy. We had almost 600 people through the door and a complete cross section of people young and old.
“It’s always an interesting day, you get: kids who are fascinated by the models, older kids just starting out in the hobby, also retired people who are just getting back into the hobby again after a break.
Models on the day included one depicting an American railway, and another of a Czech railway.
Another exhibit was Mark’s own entitled Old Elm Park. An imagination of a railway site in Reading.
“One gentleman I was talking to, used to be train drive at Nine Elms in London, and he was saying the models were bringing back memories for him,” said Mark.
Mark said an exhibit of a Scottish railway in Autumn had also piqued interest and that this setting was rarely modelled due to the difficulty of the colours involved.
He added: “For me, my model making is almost sort of my art form and I think a lot of people who came really appreciated the effort and the time that’s gone into creating all the models.”
The Cox Green show is the main MMDMRC fundraising event and Mark confirmed enough money had been raised to keep the club going for the coming year.
