Reading have confirmed that Lewis Wing has penned a new three-year contract, extending his stay with the Royals until 2028.

The Royals midfielder has enjoyed two successful years with the club so far and was an integral part of Noel Hunt’s side last season as they unexpectedly finished just outside of the League 1 play-offs.

Against a backdrop of uncertainty off the field. Wing and his teammates kept their composure on it, stringing together a series of impressive displays as they finished seventh in League 1, just three points behind Leyton Orient who sneaked into the play-offs ahead of them on the final day.

Wing was named player of the season for the Royals in his first campaign and scored the club’s goal of the season in their 2024/25 campaign. He also captained the side on several occasions.

Speaking on Lewis's renewal, Royals Chief Executive, Joe Jacobson said "We are delighted Lewis has agreed to extend his contract with us as he is an essential part of our plans for next season. Lewis is a top performer at this level and above, and I know the positive impact he has in the dressing room, stepping up to become a real leader in recent years - so it was important for us to extend his stay as we look to build a highly competitive squad, not just for this season but the future."

Reading have also begun formal consultation with a ‘specialist infrastructure specialist’ to improve the match-day experience for supporters at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The club is consulting with the London based organisation Landways to ‘bring to life the club’s vision of delivering a best-in-class facility to Reading’.

Explaining the move on the club’s website last week, the Royals said: “The provisions will enable the club to offer an optimum fan engagement experience for stadium visitors with the intention of making the Select Car Leasing Stadium one of the most technically advanced facilities in the country.

“The appointment will cast particular focus on improving stadium-wide network connectivity, the public address and music entertainment system, and enhanced security, with other elements set to be derived from an extensive review of the stadium’s digital infrastructure.”

Club Chairman Rob Couhig commented: “The experience of our supporters at the stadium on both matchdays and non-matchdays is one of my highest priorities, and I am delighted to bring Landways on board to help shape how we can make our home the best it possibly can be.

“Having worked with Landways in the past, I have seen first-hand the expertise and insight they can bring to the table, and I am excited to see what we can do together.”

Chris Smedley, Chief Executive, Landways, added: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to work again with Rob and his team on this new chapter at Reading FC. Delivering high-performance infrastructure and great technology systems is only part of the story — it’s about building trusted, long-term partnerships that create memorable experiences and long-term value. With Rob’s clear vision for the club, this is set to be an exciting journey."

Work between the two parties will get underway immediately and the club will provide an update for supporters once the consultation process has been completed.
