The Double-Barrelled Brewery in Reading will host the TradeMark Berkshire Football Awards this evening with an impressive 23 football clubs and a range of individuals and volunteers shortlisted for awards.

Organisers Football in Berkshire whittled down a long list of nominees into the shortlist for tonight’s awards which aim to celebrate every facet of non-league and grassroots football, from the best players to the grounds teams, volunteers and content creators.

Most of the tickets have now been sold, but there were still a few available at the beginning of the week.

The show will be hosted by Guardian Football Weekly podcast regular, author of Up Pohnpei! and co-host of The Sweeper podcast, Paul Watson.

Among the local clubs and individuals nominated are Burnham FC and Windsor & Eton FC in the Matchday experience category while Slough Town’s Callum Withers is shortlisted in the Supporter of the Season category.

Maidenhead United’s Jason Stewart and Windsor & Eton’s

Lewis Clements & George Gould have been nominated in the grounds team of the season category.

Alongside the main awards there will also be a tribute to Maidenhead United’s long-serving manager Alan Devonshire, who has managed the Magpies with distinction over two successful spells.

The venue is accessible by train from Reading Station and the number 17 bus, or Tilehurst Station. There is also plenty of parking available at the venue.

Doors are set to open from 6pm and dinner is provided with your ticket. This year it's being provided by the Rural Pie Company.

The evening’s entertainment will also include a performance from Burghfield Uncommon before the awards are handed out while house band The Small Strings will perform at half-time and full-time.

For those who cannot make the evening, the event will be livestreamed here.

Owner shocked and devastated by kebab van blaze

A shocked kebab van owner is said to be ‘devastated’ after a fire tore through his van. Crews from Wargrave and Wokingham Road were called to fight the blaze which gutted the Dilara kebab van, parked in the grounds of Hare Hatch Sheeplands in London Road, on Wednesday last week. They were unable to salvage the van which was completed destroyed and police have yet to rule out arson. The family live in Reading but have asked not to be named.
