Slough Town played a couple of friendly matches yesterday (Tuesday), with a largely first team squad taking on Reading FC in a behind closed doors friendly at the Royals Bearwood Training Ground.

Later on Tuesday, a youthful Rebels side - made of mainly Elite Development Squad (EDS) players - travelled to Thame United.

The first game took place at midday with the Rebels playing out a 1-1 draw with a youthful Royals side.

Jacob Borgnis was on target for the hosts in the first half.

Slough player manager Scott Davies called the game a ‘really good work out’ for his new look side as they continue to gel and develop ahead of the new National League South,

Reflecting on the Royals test Davies said: “A really good work out this morning at against Reading. Great to see some familiar faces too.”

Later in the evening (Tuesday) the newest crop of EDS (Elite Development Squad) players visited Thame United and had the better of the first half before fading late in the game and going down to a 5-1 defeat.

Slough’s pressure was finally made to count in the 52nd minute when a good run into the box and cross created the chance for the ball to be fired home from just inside the six-yard box.

The young Rebels held the lead for only three minutes however and conceded four more without reply as they fell away badly in the final half an hour.

Tickets are also now on sale for Slough Town’s friendly at home to National League side Southend United on Tuesday, July 29 (7.45pm kick-off). The friendly was organised following Leon Parillon’s move to Roots Hall last season. Slough’s top scorer last season Slavi Spasov has also moved to the Shrimpers this summer.

Adults are £8 and u18s are £1.
