Windsor & Eton’s season finally came to an end on Tuesday evening - a week or two after they’d thought it was over - as the Royalists were beaten 1-0 by North Greenford United in the quarter-finals of the Premier Challenge Cup.
The Royalists were reinstated in the competition thanks to Harefield United fielding an ineligible player in their tie against Windsor earlier in the season.
That meant Matty Angell’s depleted side were hurriedly reinstated in the competition for a quarter-final tie that was effectively a semi-final tie at Stag Meadow on Tuesday.
Unfortunately, there was to be no league and cup double this season as North Greenford won the game with a first half goal from Remel Larwood.
North Greenford now advance to next week’s final where they will play Cobham FC.
The club are also set to host a men’s showcase game for players looking to put themselves in the shop window for a potential trial ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
The Royalists are looking to strengthen their ranks ahead of their move up to the Combined Counties Premier Division North.
Players interested in becoming part of the squad next season can register their interest in playing in the showcase match, which takes place on Sunday, May 18.
Manager Matty Angell said: “Had a great take up on applicants so far and we will be responding with confirmation details in the coming days to those that have been selected. Excellent opportunity to be part of our step 5 journey next season.”
