Desborough Bowls Club set to host prestigious Inter-County Bowls event this weekend

Desborough Bowls Club is proud to play host a prestigious Inter-County Bowls event this weekend, welcoming some of the best players from the region to play in the early stages of the Balcomb Trophy.

The road to national glory begins for teams this month, and across the country players will be competing to represent their counties in hotly contested Inter-County Performance Events.

Players from across the region will take part in matches at Desborough’s base at Green Lane this weekend as part of the early stages of the Balcomb Trophy, a prestigious competition that showcases the very best of English bowls.

From defending champions to ambitious challengers, the stage is set for an exciting series of regional matches.
Spectators are welcome and encouraged to come along and support the most talented players in their area. Entrance is free and the match play promises to be of the highest quality.

These Inter-County Performance Events are also more than just a stepping stone towards the Aviva National Bowls Finals in Royal Leamington Spa this August. They are also a key part of the Bowls England Player Pathway programme.

The formats and categories on display will align with international bowls and newly appointed Area and Para scouts will be present to run the rule over promising players and report back to international team managers.

Eight teams are set to progress from these regional rounds to the Aviva National Bowls Finals in August, the pinnacle of the domestic bowls calendar.
