10 weeks of gas works to hit road from Bourne End to Marlow

Cadent Gas says it is replacing almost 3km of old pipes in Marlow Road.

More than two months of disruption are set to hit a key road linking Bourne End, the A404 and Marlow, as gas works kick off from next week.

Temporary traffic lights are due to be in place along Marlow Road from Monday (August 4), as Cadent Gas begins a project to replace almost 3km of old gas pipes over ten weeks.

Work will progressively move along the eastbound lane of Marlow Road, from its junction with Westhorpe Farm Lane in Little Marlow towards Coldmoorholme Lane in Bourne End.

Work is expected to wrap up by November 17, according to the one.network roadworks map.

A Cadent Gas spokesperson said the ten week project was needed to replace old iron gas mains pipes with ‘new, more durable plastic pipes that will last for many decades to come’.

The spokesperson added: “Our engineers will be working seven days a week and the temporary traffic lights will be manned from 7am – 7pm to help with the flow of traffic.

“The work will be on one side of the road not the whole road.

“We have been in discussions with Buckinghamshire Council to complete as much as possible of the works within the schools’ summer holiday.”
