Reduced train speeds tonight following Storm Isha amber alert

Weather warnings due to Storm Isha will see Great Western Railway trains running at a reduced speed tonight.

Storm Isha is expected to bring extreme winds across the Great Western Railway network this evening, reaching up to 70mph in places and continuing into Monday morning.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for strong winds and a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.

Train services running across the whole Great Western Railway network will be delayed and disruption is expected until 8am tomorrow (January 22).

Network Rail may implement speed restrictions of 50mph on all lines between Slough and Didcot Parkway from 7pm today (Sunday) until 5am on Monday (January 22).

If this is the case, trains are still expected to run through these areas but may be delayed by at least 35-40 minutes.

Further restrictions are likely to be imposed as the storm develops.

Customers were advised to travel earlier and may encounter difficulties completing their journeys if travelling later on in the day.
