Top Pet 2025: Win £100-worth of pet products from Waitrose

There is still time to get your entry in for the Advertiser’s search for Top Pet 2025 – and win £100-worth of pet products at Waitrose.

For this year’s search for the area’s favourite pet, we’ve teamed up with the Maidenhead branch of the popular supermarket to offer a dream prize for your pet.

The Moorbridge Road store has recently undergone a multi-million pound transformation, which even includes a new frozen food section for pets as part of its extensive range of foods, treats, toys and accessories for cats and dogs.

The Top Pet winner will also receive a photoshoot for them and their pet with our professional photographer and a framed 8”x10” photograph of choice from the shoot.

This year's deadline for entries has been extended to Monday, June 2.

The competition is not restricted to traditional pets like cats and dogs.

Last year, in the battle of the hamsters, Mr Soupie Soup narrowly beat Mango Cheesecake by just one per cent of the votes.

There are no classes or entry criteria apart from the requirement for all entries to be domestic pets – no matter how weird or wonderful. Entrants must be based in the area covered by the Maidenhead Advertiser.

To submit your entry to our competition, simply email your photo to us (sorry, no posted photos) showing your pet it in all its glory.

Include with it, your name, your pet’s name and your daytime telephone number.

Send it to sallyg@baylismedia.co.uk by Monday, June 2.

We will then print all the photos in the Advertiser and on the Maidenhead Advertiser website and ask readers to vote for their favourite online.

The winner will be the pet which receives the most votes.

So, what are you waiting for? Whether you have a cute cat, great gerbil, delightful dog, superb spider or regal reptile, share it with us and bring a smile to our faces.

Please note that all photos submitted should be in jpg format and should be no less than 1MB in size. There is no cash alternative to the prize.

Owner shocked and devastated by kebab van blaze

A shocked kebab van owner is said to be ‘devastated’ after a fire tore through his van. Crews from Wargrave and Wokingham Road were called to fight the blaze which gutted the Dilara kebab van, parked in the grounds of Hare Hatch Sheeplands in London Road, on Wednesday last week. They were unable to salvage the van which was completed destroyed and police have yet to rule out arson. The family live in Reading but have asked not to be named.
