IN October it was HoT WI’s turn to host the Beechwood Meeting. This is a social get-together of seven local WI groups. We were joined by
44 members.

Penny Noble, the Beechwood convener, welcomed everyone. As is customary, Jerusalem was sung followed by refreshments, including Autumn Pimm’s, cheesy bites and grapes and scones and jam, served by our group.

Our speaker for the evening was Richard Pinches, who presented “Confessions of an Advertising Photographer”. He told of his successful career with all its highs and lows.

The “My Dinner” photo competition (judged by Richard) was won by a Shiplake WI member and Harpsden-Greys won the quiz.

Raffle prizes included the wonderful top table floral arrangement donated by the Henley Florist.

The next Beechwood meeting would take place at Shiplake on April 22 at 2.30pm At this meeting, Judy Deweu of Wallingford Museum will be talking about Agatha Christie.

Henley’s next formal meeting is today (Friday) when we shall be practising some relaxing tai chi.

At our last monthly meeting we learned about CPR and using a defibrillator with Julie Yeo of St John Ambulance. Hopefully our members will feel more confident in following the national WI campaign “Bystanders can be lifesavers”.
