Councillor Stephen Conway to stand down

Long-standing borough councillor for Twyford, Stephen Conway, is stepping down.

Cllr Conway announced this week his decision to stand down from the role to concentrate on his increased work commitments, having been made head of department at University College London where he lectures.

He has served the village at Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) for 18 years.

"I have agonised over this decision for a long time," he said.

"It is one I take with enormous regret, because this is a role I have enjoyed and I have learned and gained so much from it."

Lindsay Ferris (Lib Dem) will be standing against James Ewan (Green Party), Richard Fort (Labour Party) and Sam Hawkins (Conservative Party) on May 3.
