Back row forward Conor Gilsenan has signed a two year contract extension at London Irish.

Gilsenan, 22, joined Irish at the start of this season from Leinster and has become a valuable member of the squad.

He has represented and captained Ireland at Under 18s, 19s and 20s and played a key part in London Irish’s European Challenge Cup and Premiership campaigns this season.

London Irish head coach Glenn Delaney said: “We are delighted that Conor has extended his contract with us. He joined in the summer and has adapted to life in the Premiership very quickly.

"He is constantly improving and showing a high level of work rate and ability.”

Operations director Bob Casey added: “Conor is a top quality young Irish player and very ambitious.

"He has been a great addition to the squad with his work ethic and leadership qualities.”

Gilsenan was delighted to sign the extension: “I am delighted to have signed a contract extension. I have really enjoyed my time at London Irish and the Club is clearly heading in the right direction.

"The club welcomed me in and has been my family away from home for the last year.  This is the sort of environment every player wants to be in and I am really looking forward to the next couple of years.”
