Incident 'resolved' after armed police make arrest  imitation firearm

Police have said there is no 'wider threat to the public' following an incident with an imitation firearm in Maidenhead this morning (Thursday).

An individual pointed what appeared to be a firearm at two men in their 30s on St Luke's Road. 

Officers received a report of an assault without injury, and an armed deployment attended the scene at around 9.10am. 

A 55-year-old woman from Maidenhead was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm.

She remains in custody, and officers have seized the imitation firearm.

There were no injuries, and there is no wider threat to the public.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said people will see an 'increased police presence in the area' following the incident. 

Residents are advised to speak to officers if they have concerns, and Thames Valley Police is investigating the incident as a priority, as it has now been resolved.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: “We received a report of an assault without injury at around 9.10am today (28/8) on St Luke’s Road, Maidenhead.

An individual pointed what appeared to be a firearm at two men in their thirties.

"Officers, including an armed deployment, attended and arrested a 55-year-old woman from Maidenhead on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm. She remains in our custody. 

"Officers have seized the imitation firearm.

“No one has been injured and there is no wider threat to the public.

“We understand the concern this may cause to the local community, but we are investigating this as a priority and the incident has now been resolved.

"People will see an increased police presence in the area following this incident and we encourage the public to speak to them if they have any concerns.”
