Pawsome pageantry has been unleashed at the Royal Windsor Dog Show this week – with the gambolling fun set to continue throughout the weekend.
The famed and historic dog show began yesterday (Thursday) at Home Park and will go on for a total of four days.
The weekend will see qualifiers for both Crufts and Scruffts, as well as a Companion Dog Show also open for all members of the public. Yesterday was a celebration of gun dogs, featuring a gun dog scurry – a retrieving challenge.
Dogs and pups have been wagging their tails for the Paws & Pageantry area, where they can also have a go at agility, scentwork, and dog show training activities.
The ‘have a go’ activities are raising funds for Battersea Old Windsor – and there are drop off points to donate treats and toys for ‘Battersea Baskets’ helping four-legged friends in need.
The event is expecting about 7,300 dogs and between 25,000 to 35,000 people across all days, with an estimated 5,000 people showing up on Thursday by the mid-afternoon.
Speaking at the event, dog show secretary Rachel Corr said attendees are enjoying the pageantry and the array of different trade stands.
“Everybody’s very happy – we have had really good feedback,” she said.
The Royal Windsor Dog Show is in Home Park in Windsor until Sunday, June 29, from 9am to 6pm daily.
