Council approves application to divide The Range into two separate units

The Royal Borough has given the green light to an application looking to divide The Range in Maidenhead into two separate units.

The application to subdivide unit 4 at Stafferton Retail Park to create an additional sub-let unit, was submitted for planning consideration in July.

The homeware and garden centre retailer took over the former Homebase site in March.

The store sells a range of home and garden products and includes Kitchens by Homebase and The Garden Centre by Homebase.

The proposals look to ‘make a more efficient use of the existing retail floorspace at the premises’.

The plans looked to create a new customer entrance for the new unit to feature curtain walling, automatic sliding doors and a projecting canopy.

This would match with the existing unit’s entrance and the appearance of the entrances of the neighbouring units.

The plans also looked to extend the existing mezzanine floor by 464sqm to provide more floorspace to sell products.

The Royal Borough has granted permission, subject to five conditions.

The decision notice said that no development can start until an energy statement has been submitted to and approved in writing by the Royal Borough.

Another condition added that no part of the additional mezzanine floorspace approved can be used until details of the ‘proposed covered, secure and accessible cycle parking facilities’ for the development have been approved.

A spokesperson for The Range said the company will not be commenting, following the approval of the application.
