The headteacher of The Piggott School is set to retire after seven years at the helm.
Creating new teaching blocks and three Ofsted inspections are just some of the achievements Hilary Winter has overseen.
Mrs Winter also helped to guide the school in Twyford Road, Wargrave, as it gained academy status in July 2011 and was involved in the opening of Charvil Piggott Primary School in September, which is managed by the Piggott.
"It has been a privilege and joy to work with such an amazing team of staff and with such wonderful and rewarding youngsters," said Mrs Winter.
"I couldn’t have wished for a better to school in which to end my almost 40-year career."
Her retirement plans involve spending more time visiting her family, including her first grandson in New Zealand.
Governors have shared their thanks for the years of service Mrs Winter has given to the school.
"Mrs Winter encourages people and always looks for the best in her staff and students," said Helen Craig, chairman of governors.
"In my time as a parent, governor and now as chair of governors at the Piggott School it has been a privilege to work alongside her.
"She is professional, hard working and I am going to miss working with her."
The Rev John Cook, vicar of Wargrave and a foundation governor of the academy, said he was 'very thankful' for Mrs Winters service to the community, the pupils and for her leadership.
Before joining the school Mrs Winter was headteacher at Dr Challoner's High School in Buckinghamshire.
Mrs Winter told staff and pupils on Thursday, February 13, that she was going to retire at the end of the academic year.
