Met Office warns of heavy rain and thundery showers in the South-east

The weekend's good weather is likely to seem like a distant memory today with the South-east set to be hit by heavy rain.

The Met Office has issued a yellow severe weather warning covering Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead, Wokingham and Buckinghamshire, which will remain in place from 9am this morning until 9am tomorrow (Wednesday).

It states rain, heavy at times, will affect some areas today, with an increasing risk of heavy, thundery showers breaking out in the afternoon and evening.

The Met Office said there is a risk of possible localised surface water flooding where the heaviest rain occurs.
