Robbers armed with sword raid Maidenhead supermarket

Robbers armed with a sword raided a Budgens supermarket in Maidenhead yesterday evening.

Two men entered the shop, in Highway Avenue, at about 9.40pm and stole a 'large quantity' of cigarettes before leaving.

The men were wearing dark clothing and face coverings, but no further details have been released by police at this stage.

No one was injured.

Investigating officer, Det Con Richard Ayres from Force CID at Maidenhead, said: “Fortunately no one was injured during this incident but a large quantity of cigarettes was stolen.

"If you have any information about the incident or saw anything out of the ordinary in the area around the time of the offence, please call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101.”
