A member of the public found the man on a grass verge near to the mini-roundabout in Priest Hill at about 12.13pm on Friday (February 28).

His bicycle was found half in the road.

Medical attention was provided to the man, aged in his 50s, at the scene.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital but was later pronounced dead.

The man’s family have been informed.

Investigating officer Detective Constable James Bish, said: “Firstly my thoughts remain with the family of the man who sadly died.

“An investigation is ongoing into this incident, the man who was found on the verge did not seem to have sustained any obvious physical injuries consistent with a road traffic collision and this incident may have been a medical episode.

“However we are keeping an open mind and looking for anyone with witness information, dash-cam footage or CCTV to please come forward if they have not already done so.

“If you have information please call us on 101 or you can add information on our online pages, quoting reference 43250099646.”
