Plans submitted for £6m Bulmershe School redevelopment

A planning application for the £6m renovation of The Bulmershe School in Woodley has been submitted to the borough council.

The construction project is being funded and managed by Wokingham Borough Council (WBC) and its aim is to raise students' aspirations and achievements.

It includes priority work on some existing buildings, significant refurbishment of existing classrooms, a new post-16 learning centre, a remodelled library and information centre, and an improved dining facility.

The application is due to be heard in late spring.

If permission is granted, a contractor would be appointed following a tendering process.

Cllr Rob Stanton, deputy leader of WBC and chair of The Bulmershe School Project Board, said: “This is a crucial stage in these major plans.

“Bulmershe’s students deserve the very best facilities and we welcome your views on our plans to give them these.”

Headteacher Emma Reynolds said: “Our vision is to be a vibrant, dynamic and ambitious place of learning where every student is valued and treated as an individual.
