Barbecue and traditional games promised at Waltham St Lawrence and Shurlock Row Village Fete

An action-packed summer fete featuring stalls, games and plenty of food and drink is set to take over Waltham St Lawrence Cricket Club this Saturday.
The Waltham St Lawrence and Shurlock Row Village Fete will kick off from 1pm with a range of traditional stalls including skittles, crafting and trinkets, wellie throwing, the human fruit machine, golf chipping, crockery smash, coconut shy, face painting and tombolas, on offer.
An inflatable slide and highland cow grooming will keep youngsters busy during the event.
Visitors will also be treated to a display of classic cars and bikes.
A children’s ‘sports day’, complete with a range of races for youngsters between three and 11-years-old will kick off from 1.30pm.
The winners’ presentation will take place at 3pm.
From 2.30pm to 4.30pm, guests will also enjoy a Dog Show, featuring an array of categories including best pedigree, best puppy, best crossbreed, best veteran, best trick, best rescue and best in show, where all class winners will return.
Registration will start from 1pm and a cash payment of £2 per class per dog will be required.
At 3.30pm, visitors will get a chance to take part in a tug of war, before enjoying a raffle at 4.30pm.
A plethora of live acts will take centre stage during the fete including a silver band, a ukulele band, and a school choir.
A tea tent, bar and barbecue serving up hot dogs, burgers and halloumi burgers, will be available to guests from 1pm.
Visitors can also treat themselves to donuts and ice cream, which will be available to purchase.
The fete’s main sponsor is Knight Frank.
Other sponsors include ANB Groundcare, Power of One Fitness, Rebellion Beer, Stanlake Park, Legacy Allstars, Shurlock Row Garage and The Shurlock Inn.
All profits made will be donated to Waltham St Lawrence Primary School, Waltham St Lawrence Cricket Club and Waltham St Lawrence parish church.
Tickets cost £6 for adults, £2 for children and £1 for those aged 16 and below.
The event will close at 5pm.
