Thames Valley Chorus hosts free lesson

1 of 6
The sound of soulful male voices filled the halls of Piggott School today as the Thames Valley Chorus hosted a free singing lesson.

About 40 men attended the afternoon organised by musical education charity The Harmony Foundation.

Chorus member Clive Pugh said: "Most men are renowned for singing in the shower or in private so this afternoon was a way to introduce some of those men to singing in public.

"It's a very healthy hobby as it improves your breathing, relives stress and improves your confidence.

The group was split into four harmony groups and taught to sing 'Let that Song Bird Fly' a cappella, which was written especially for the day.

"It's always hard learning new songs but it's gone really well and hopefully some have enjoyed it so much they may come back again for more singing lessons," added Clive.

He added the group, which has performed with Robbie Williams, will be running a six week workshop at the Twyford Road school on Tuesday nights for men of all singing abilities.
