Fly-tipping costs tax payers thousands
Illegal fly-tipping is costing Wokingham tax payers thousands every year.
Wokingham Borough Council's (WBC) waste and recycling manager Pete Baveystock said it spent up to £50,000 a year clearing fly-tipped waste from its lands.
He added it also spent a further £100 a tonne to dispose of it.
"We want people to be vigilant," said Mr Baveystock.
"If they see something take a number and report it to the council, because we will prosecute if we are able to get the evidence."
Across Berkshire there were more than 5,000 incidents last year, but only four successful prosecutions.
