Consultation starts on Wokingham Station link road
Consultations have begun on planned improvements to the Wokingham railway station link road.
The council is working with Network Rail and South West Trains to make major improvements to the station and a key part is the link road between the station and the A329 Reading Road.
The consultation period runs until April 6 and the plans will be on display at Unit 38, Market Place, Wokingham, opposite the town hall from March 1-3.
Cllr Keith Baker, executive member for transport, said: “The link road is an opportunity to improve the road junctions in the immediate vicinity of the rail station but also improve facilities for those arriving at the station on foot, by bicycle and by bus.
"It is important that the road network is still able to function efficiently and the link road would make significant improvements to combat congestion in Wokingham, especially at the level crossing.”
Views gathered during consultation will be used in finalising the design of the station link road and a planning application is set to be submitted in July.
